We have been as a class learning about our bodies.
The kids have enjoyed learning the parts of their bodies.
The kids have learned where they are, what is their function,
and why do we need them.
We first started off with a tracing of their lifesize body.
They got excited to see how big and tall they were.
Then the children began building their bodies.
Starting with creating their faces.
Eyes, mouths, nose, and ears.
They had a discussion about their senses.
They learned about their brain and how important it is.
Then it was onto the heart.
Mrs. Merrill taught them to find their heartbeat
after they ran for 1 minute.
There also was a stethescope work where they enjoyed finding
their hearts and hearing it beat.
They learned about their veins.
Then put on their lungs and their esophagus.
Mrs. Merrill is showing them how their stomachs work.
They enjoyed all Mrs. Merrill's presentations.
Then they learned about their kidneys, gall bladder,
spleen and pancreas.
They learned about their small and large intestine and bladder.
They were surprised to see how small their appendix was.
They learned about their bones, and muscles and skin.

Mrs. Merrill took the parts off and let the children put them
in the correct place.
They are sooo smart. They knew right where they belonged!
Kelten's Body
Davin just finished coloring his stomach and now is going to cut it out and put it on his body.
Irelynn just finished coloring her large intestine.
Kambria also working on hers.

The children colored and cut out the body parts and helped Mrs. Merrill and Mrs. Brimhall place it on their paper life size bodies.
The children were so excited to finally take home their wonderful bodies. They had one more review with Mrs. Merrill and lots of jellybeans.
Mrs. Merril quized them about where parts were.
She would describe a function and the children would quickly tell her the part.
They each were able to get a jelly bean.
So fun!
