Taylor Mills focuses in her workstation organizing the rods from smallest to largest. She is instructed to count each marking on the rod before lying it down. This ensures clarity in the process of placing them in their proper order.

Kambria Bowman does a wonderful job at completing her work station. This station is great for developing fine motor skills.

Mckay Wood is working on rhyming. He is to match the cards with those that rhyme with each other, and completes it almost perfectly.

Red Rods

Brooke Chlarson and Mckay Wood are using the Red Rods. This work station is designed to help students learn to distinguish the short rods in order up to the longest rod. Once this is achieved, students (like those shown) can use this station as a maze to develop balance. Mckay and Brooke demonstrate how this is shown, and ring the bell once they have reached the center of the maze.

First Day of school- introduction to the line

As you parent's have noticed, when dropping off, and picking your children up from school, they are to sit on the line that has been outlined ("criss-cross applesauce" style). Montessori is based on structure and routine, thus stating the purpose of the line. Children are to be excused before leaving at pick-up by the either Mrs. Merrill or Mrs. Wood.

The board demonstrates what is being served for snack each day. The children are each responsible for serving themselves what is indicated on the board. Mrs. Wood is giving them a demonstration of snack as she counts each item listed.
